National Volunteer Month - Guest Blogger Denise Daniels

As National Volunteer Month comes to a close, I would like salute and thank all of our volunteers by sharing a quote that has been my personal motivation to become so involved with volunteering.

“I wondered why somebody didn't do something. Then I realized, I am somebody.”

Volunteers do not wait for someone else to step up, they are right up front, giving of their time and energy in service for others because they have recognized that at any moment in their life, they could be the somebody in need of someone else’s help. As a volunteer, you are all the somebodies who realize that problems in the community will not solve themselves – and to make a better life for all, the solution starts with us. You have stepped up to volunteer your time and give of your heart...and you are special!

Whether you have been a part of sculpting the strategy or giving your time and expertise as a board member, or ran a holiday or backpack drive or helped pass on a love of reading to a child, maybe you helped someone prepare their taxes or fixed up a computer that will give someone the key to a world of knowledge – it all makes a difference ---- and for that I thank you for the bottom of my heart....

Thank you for helping to make positive change in our community and I look forward to continuing the commitment with you. I welcome your ideas, your enthusiasm and your dedication.

When we reach out a hand to one we influence the condition of all!
