Education
Education is essential for getting and keeping a job with a livable wage and health benefits, but too many children and parents in our community do not have the basic literacy and math skills that are necessary to succeed in school and eventually obtain employment.
Last year, United Way helped 136 children receive day care with enhanced mental health support and literacy training. Also, 160 Trenton High School students received peer and adult mentoring to keep them in school.
Helping Children Succeed focuses on getting kids ready for school and staying in school to graduate, and helping parents to become more involved in their lives:
