Statement of Equity and Justice from our President & CEO

At United Way, LIVE UNITED has always been our core value. We must ALL do our part, working together, to make our communities the places that we need them to be: equitable, respectful, and opportunity-filled.

Dear Mercer County Friends & Community Partners,

As we continue to watch what’s happening around the country with sadness and pain, I want to take a moment to let you know how we’re feeling at United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC).

We strongly believe that every person is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race- this includes equal treatment, access to justice, and essentials for basic living. The impact of recent events is not isolated to one situation. There are too many moments like these that continue to emphasize how much work needs to be done.

At United Way, LIVE UNITED has always been our core value. We must ALL do our part, working together, to make our communities the places that we need them to be: equitable, respectful, and opportunity-filled.

We, as a society, can and must do better to guarantee that the basic human rights and freedoms of every person in every community are protected. At UWGMC, we take our responsibility seriously to help impact change and support the community.

Let’s continue to take care of each other.

Yours in service,

Sandra Toussaint
President & CEO
